Installation project of a heat meter

Installation project of a heat meter

Installation of a heat meter used for commercial calculations should be carried out based on an agreed project.

Prior to designing, the heat supply organization requests technical specifications and initial data for installing the heat meter. The technical specifications indicate all the requirements of the heat supply organization for the metering node, while the initial data includes the calculated heat load of the object, the temperature schedule of the heat supply, the hydraulic regime at the inlet, and the location of the boundary of the balancing responsibility.

An installation project for a heat meter, developed by a certified specialist or an organization licensed to perform this type of work, is allowed for approval.

The installation project for the heat meter may consist of the following sections:

  • Calculation of heat carrier flow rate - performed based on the heat capacity of the object and the temperature schedule of heat supply. Calculation of the heat carrier flow rate is necessary for the correct selection of the heat meter.
  • Selection of the heat energy meter - performed based on the calculated flow rate, taking into account possible deviations in flow rate associated with regulation at the object.
  • Hydraulic calculation of the metering node - performed to determine the hydraulic resistance introduced by the heat meter and additional elements, such as filters, valves, tees, transitions, and pipes. The introduced resistance is considered unacceptable if the object cannot consume the calculated heat carrier flow rate after the installation of the heat meter.
  • Calculation of heat losses - performed for the section of the pipeline from the boundary of balancing responsibility to the location of the temperature sensors of the heat meter. Heat losses are calculated for each pipeline diameter separately, taking into account the average temperature of the heat carrier in the pipeline and the average temperature of the surrounding environment. The total heat losses from all sections of the pipeline should be recalculated monthly by the heat supply organization under actual parameters of the heat carrier and added to the heat meter readings.
  • Mounting diagram for installing the heat meter - necessary for the installation of the device and its components. In the case of a non-standard insertion of the temperature sensor, a detailed installation diagram is developed.
  • Specification for the components of the metering node.

During the approval of the project in the heat supply organization, compliance with the requirements of the technical specifications, applicable regulatory documents, and the heat meter passport is checked.

Each verifying organization places its seal on the approval letter for the working project. Installation of the heat meter is allowed only based on an approved project.
