Operating principle of the check valve

Operating principle of the check valve

The operation of a check valve is based on allowing water flow in one direction. The valve allows water to pass when the direction of flow in the pipeline is aligned with the arrow on the valve body. In case of reverse flow direction, the valve closes and does not allow the flow. When there is no flow, the check valve is in a closed position.

The check valve disk blocks the liquid flow due to the force of the spring or the weight of the disk itself. The operation of the check valve does not require external energy sources, so they are classified as direct acting pipeline fittings.
