Installation and connection of plate heat exchanger

Installation of plate heat exchanger

Installation of heat exchangers should be carried out by qualified riggers.

It is prohibited to lift the heat exchanger from below by the plates, connection holes, and tightening bolts. Lifting should be carried out using textile slings, the use of steel cable is not allowed. Placing the heat exchanger on the lateral surface is allowed only on a fixed plate.

The plate heat exchanger is installed on a prepared foundation/concrete pad with a slope tolerance of up to 1mm per meter. The frame and fixed clamping plate are equipped with support feet for attaching the device to the concrete pad.

Free space around the plate heat exchanger

Around the heat exchanger, it is necessary to provide free space of at least 1.5 times the width of the fixed plate, and the clamping plate should be able to move freely along the entire length of the supporting base.

Pipelines connected to the inlet and outlet openings of the heat exchanger must be secured to prevent twisting, stretching, or compression loads on the device housing.

When connecting, protection should be provided against:

  • vibration;
  • exceeding the pressure and temperature above the calculated values;
  • foreign objects entering the cavities of the heat exchange surfaces;
  • direct exposure to sunlight.
  • During welding, it is forbidden to use the heat exchanger in the grounding circuit.

First start-up

During the start-up of the heat exchanger, small leaks in the form of individual drops of the medium may occur, which will disappear after the plates and gaskets are heated to the operating temperature.

The speed of pressure rise and fall during start-up and shutdown should not exceed 1 MPa per minute. The rate of temperature change should not exceed 10°C per minute.

The frequency of inspection of the heat exchanger is once a month.
