Installation of the expansion vessel

Installation of the expansion vessel

Installation of the expansion vessel must be carried out by qualified specialists in accordance with the installation instructions.

Requirements for installation:

  • Installation of expansion vessels with external damage is not allowed.
  • The parameters of the working environment at the installation site of the expansion vessel should not exceed the parameters set by the manufacturer.
  • The installation site for the expansion vessel must be able to withstand the weight of the tank filled with water at 100% capacity.
  • If necessary, a drainage system should be provided in the room where the expansion vessel is located.
  • The room where the tank is to be installed must be heated. Freezing of water in the tank is not allowed.
  • The elements of the expansion vessel should not be subjected to static loads from inlet pipelines or other equipment.
  • The expansion vessel must be protected from moisture and mechanical damage.
  • The weight and dimensions of expansion vessels with a volume of more than 750 liters can make installation difficult, so it is important to ensure that the vessel can fit through doorways and take into account that its weight will be measured in hundreds of kilograms.
  • Changes to the construction of the expansion vessel tank are not allowed.
  • Installation of a safety valve in the piping system of the expansion vessel is mandatory, with the pressure of its full opening not exceeding the maximum allowable pressure in the tank.
  • An anti-return valve preventing emptying of the tank into the water supply system or well must be installed on the pipeline before the expansion vessel in the direction of water flow.
  • To perform maintenance on the piping system connected to and located before and after the tank, a shut-off valve protected from accidental closure and a drain valve for water drainage should be installed.
  • If the design of the expansion vessel does not include equipment that prevents water stagnation and ensures circulation during water intake, it is recommended to install additional equipment.
  • The expansion vessel should only be connected after flushing the water supply system connected to it and the piping system before it.
  • Prior to installation in the water supply system, initial pressure of the gas space in the expansion vessel should be created in accordance with the calculated value. Calculation of all necessary parameters can be found in the section of the website, Calculation of the volume and pressure in the expansion vessel.
