Installation of ball valve

Installation of ball valve

Installation of ball valve
  • The crane should not be subjected to loads from connected pipelines (bending, compression, tension, twisting, skewing, misalignment, vibration). If necessary, supports or compensators should be provided to remove the load from the crane body. It is not allowed to install cranes on pipelines subject to vibration and to use them as support for the pipeline.
  • Ball valves can be installed in any position relative to the horizon and with any direction of the working environment flow. In the case of welding work being carried out on a vertical pipeline above the installed valve, a plug or a metal sheet should be installed between the valve flanges to prevent damage to the ball from falling slag.
  • Before installation, the plugs from the valve flanges should be removed, and its operability should be checked by turning the handle and visually verifying the rotation of the valve. The axis of the handle should be parallel to the axis of the through hole in the ball.
  • The valve is installed on the pipeline after welding the return flanges using gaskets suitable for the temperature and pressure of the working environment (usually, paronite gaskets are used in heating systems).
  • The installation site of the ball valve with a dismantling housing should allow for its disassembly and technical maintenance.
  • Ball valves with electric or pneumatic drives should be installed with the stem facing upwards. If installed outdoors above an electric drive, a pavilion should be provided.
  • When installing large-diameter ball valves using lifting equipment, the suspension should be carried out through the factory mounting brackets on the housing. It is forbidden to use a flywheel, a reducer, or an electric drive for suspension.
  • After installation, hydraulic testing of the section is necessary. The test pressure during pressurization should not exceed the test pressure set for each of the tested elements. During hydraulic testing, except for drainage and isolating elements, ball valves should be fully open.
  • If there is a possibility of solid impurities appearing in the working environment at the installation site of the ball valve, a mesh filter should be installed in front of the valve. Otherwise, abrasive wear of the ball will lead to a violation of the tightness of the shut-off.
  • Installation of ball valves with flange connection to the pipeline in areas with underground non-canal laying without a chamber is not allowed.
