Check valve - is a protective pipeline fitting of direct action, which allows the flow of working fluid in one direction and automatically closes the passage in case of reverse flow.

The disc of the flanged check valve is in the form of a single flat disc or two segments of a disc that overlap the passage. Opening of the check valve occurs due to the energy of the working fluid. If the direction of flow coincides with the direction of opening - water pressure opens the disc, and in case of reverse flow, water pressure presses the disc against the housing.

Application

The installation locations of check valves are determined by regulatory documentation and the requirements of the technological process. For example, in engineering systems, a check valve must be installed:

• On the head line of each of the parallel pumps.
• After the water meter on the water supply pipeline.
• In the heat exchange station on the bridge between the supply and return pipeline when connected with a mixing unit.
